The first look at Lisa Frankenstein, the directorial debut of Zelda Williams, has appeared on Entertainment Weekly‘s site, giving us the first glimpse at its star and mortality-crossed lovers.
Williams, daughter of the late Robin Williams, is releasing the horror comedy about a girl who loves a reanimated boy early next year. It’s written by Oscar-winner Diablo Cody.

The official synopsis for Lisa Frankenstein says it’s a coming-of-rage love story about a misunderstood teenager and her high school crush, who happens to be a handsome corpse. After a set of playfully horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness … and a few missing body parts along the way.
Zelda Williams directs Lisa Frankenstein from a script written by Oscar winner Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body). The film stars Kathryn Newton, (Blockers, Freaky), Cole Sprouse (Riverdale), Carla Gugino (The Haunting of Hill House), Liza Soberano (Alone/Together), Joe Chrest (Stranger Things), and Henry Eikenberry (The Crowded Room).
The film is produced by Cody and Mason Novick, with Jeff Lampert serving as an executive producer and Focus Features’ VP of Production and Development, Michelle Momplaisir as a creative executive.
Lisa Frankenstein will be released in theaters on February 9, 2024.
