Harrison Ford’s MCU debut will take place in Captain America: New World Order, which is set to premiere on May 3, 2024. Though fans knew Ford would be playing Thaddeus Ross in place of the late William Hurt, they may not have known that his role will be that of the President of the United States.

While speaking with EW, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige gave some details on Ford’s place in the next Captain America movie.

“We start filming relatively soon. I’m sure anyone you’ve ever talked with about Harrison Ford says this, but it’s unbelievable that we get to meet and talk with him and that he’s embracing this role,” Feige said. “He’s tireless with the amount of work that he does. This is certainly a big part for Thaddeus Ross. He’s the president of the United States in the film. And with Harrison, you think about Air Force One, and you think about some of his confrontations with the president in Clear and Present Danger.

“There’s a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this film, we’ll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the president of the United States in a way that is just incredible. This has been a dream for years, ever since Jon Favreau cast Harrison Ford in Cowboys and Aliens. I was always very jealous of that, so to have him finally in the MCU is just incredible. It’s like, I can cross that off the wishlist.”

Captain America: New World Order will be directed by Julius Onah from a screenplay written by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier head writer Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. The film features Mackie reprising his role as Sam Wilson, who has now officially taken on the mantle of the MCU’s new Captain America. He will be joined by returning Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Danny Ramirez and Carl Lumbly, who are once again playing the roles of Joaquin Torres and Isaiah Bradley, respectively.

Additionally, The Incredible Hulk actor Tim Blake Nelson will also be reprising his role as Marvel villain Samuel Sterns/Leader nearly 15 years after the Edward Norton-led film’s theatrical debut. New World Order will also include the introduction of MCU newcomer Shira Haas as Sabra.
