Though there’s been lots of talk about the Jon Snow-focused Game of Thrones spin-off series since its reveal last year, the show hasn’t actually been greenlit yet. As a matter of fact, a few Game of Thrones shows haven’t been.
In an interview with TVLine, HBO CEO Casey Bloys explained that while there are always plenty of Game of Thrones scripts being worked on, they aren’t all greenlit yet. Outside of the ongoing House of the Dragon, the only one to be greenlit at this time is the Dunk and Egg series Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight.
“We always have Game of Thrones scripts in development,” Bloys stated. “We greenlit Dunk and Egg in the spring … I wouldn’t say there is anything else in that world that is close to a green light or anything, but we are always working on different scripts and ideas.”
There are quite a few Game of Thrones spin-offs being worked on and considered, as was revealed earlier this year. These include a series centered around Aegon I Targaryen, a prequel series based on the Dunk and Egg novella trilogy, and the previously mentioned spin-off about Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow.
