The Devil’s Hour is a chilling and well-written psychological thriller, and it’s one of the smarter written shows to drop this year. After finishing all 6 episodes, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
The Devil’s Hour is a psychological thriller that demands you pay attention to the minute details. The protagonist is Lucy Chambers, who wakes up every night at 3.33am for an inexplicable reason. For some reason her reality is distorted and she finds herself struggling to make sense of what’s real and what’s not.
With seemingly disconnected interviews with a convicted killer called Gideon to keep her company, Lucy starts to piece together the true nature of her reality – with devastating results.
We have extensive coverage of The Devil’s Hour across the site, including a full season review and recaps for every episode.
At the time of writing, The Devil’s Hour has not been renewed for a second season. Given the nature of the show’s content, that could well change if it does good numbers for Amazon Prime. At the time of writing, it has already outpaced Rings of Power and sits pretty at the number 1 spot for top TV shows on Prime in the UK.
Generally Amazon gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before Amazon make a decision over a show’s future. When it comes to Amazon, they do have a habit of cancelling shows, even when they’re doing good numbers (RIP Night Sky)
So far, The Devil’s Hour has had a really good reaction from audiences and critics alike, with many pointing out several well-worked twists and a gripping story. There are actually a few decent scares in here too!
Given the way this show is set up and that big cliffhanger at the end of season 1, we predict that this will be renewed for a second season. The story hasn’t come to any sort of conclusion and it’s screaming out for more.
We’ll be sure to update this section with accurate details over the coming weeks and months when we know more!
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Amazon have not green-lit a sequel. However, there’s a very good case for another season to follow.
In a recent interview with RadioTimes, Jessica Raines is hopeful for a renewal, pointing out that the series has been planned as a trilogy. “I also knew that he [writer Tom Moran] had a season 2 and a season 3 planned out.”
Peter Capaldi, who plays the chilling Gideon, also added: “We know the story that will unfold.”
As mentioned above, we predict that this will be renewed but we’ll be sure to update this page in the future when more information is known though!
