David Gordon Green is no stranger to iconic franchises. Green wrote and directed three Halloween movies from 2018-2022. Green is now a part of The Exorcist franchise, with the first film of his planned trilogy – The Exorcist: Believer – arriving this weekend. What’s more, there have been rumors linking Green to the Star Wars universe.
Earlier this year, Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic podcast said Green was reportedly “trying to get a Star Wars movie off the ground” before Halloween Kills came out in 2021. Green is now addressing those rumors with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused.
“I’ve met with some folks there, but there’s never been a project or idea,” Green said about meeting with Lucasfilm.
Green acknowledges that executives may have been interested in him because of his work with Halloween and The Exorcist. Green is even “curious” as to what Star Wars story he would tell. While nothing is in the works with Lucasfilm, Green is not ruling out a trip to a galaxy far, far away.
“I would never say no because every time I say never is when I get the phone call that makes me excited about something,” Green said.
Green’s next film, The Exorcist: Believer, arrives in theaters on October 6, 2023. Besides directing The Exorcist: Believer, Green co-wrote the script with Danny McBride and Peter Sattler.
