Rumors of a potential Elden Ring TV series or movie have been swirling for some time now, and author George R.R. Martin recently teased that something could be happening.
In a recent blog post on his official website, Martin updated fans on a variety of things, including the fact that he and the team at FromSoftware won 2023 Nebula Awards for the game.
Martin then touched on the topic of a potential feature film or TV series, and joked that he hadn’t heard anything.
“Oh, and about those rumors you may have heard about a feature film or television series based on Elden Ring,” said Martin. “I have nothing to say. Not a word, nope, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mum mum mum. What rumor?”
Originally released in 2022, Elden Ring is directed by acclaimed designer and creator of the Dark Souls series Hidetaka Miyazaki, with Martin providing worldbuilding and other story ideas. According to Martin, FromSoftware and Miyazaki “did the rest” of the game, so it’s unclear exactly how involved Martin was.
Often cited as one of the most anticipated games of all time, Elden Ring was a massive success upon its launch, winning several Game of the Year awards and often being heralded as one of the greatest games of all time.
Elden Ring’s DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, released last month and has also garnered massive praise, with the expansion becoming the highest-rated video game DLC ever made.
