Dustin Hoffman and Leo Woodall have been cast in Tuner.
Per Deadline, Hoffman (The Meyerowitz Stories) and Woodall (One Day) will headline the crime thriller from Oscar-winner Daniel Roher (Navalny).
Hoffman is regarded as one of the best actors of the last 50 years. The 87-year-old has been nominated for seven Oscars, winning Best Actor for Kramer vs. Kramer and Rain Man. Per Deadline, “The film tells the story of a talented piano tuner whose life is turned upside down when he discovers that his meticulous skills for tuning pianos can equally be applied to cracking safes.”
Roher directs Tuner from a script he co-wrote with Robert Ramsey. Roher is a Canadian filmmaker best known for directing Navalny, a documentary about Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Navalny won Best Documentary Feature Film at the 2023 Oscars.
Tuner’s producers include JoAnne Seller and Lila Yacoub. Black Bear will launch sales at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.
Production will begin in Toronto in October.
