Dexter: Original Sin Teaser Trailer Previews Patrick Gibson Prequel Series

Paramount+ with Showtime has released the teaser trailer for Dexter: Original Sin, an upcoming prequel series led by The OA and Shadow and Bone star Patrick Gibson.

Set to hit the streamer on Friday, December 13, Dexter: Original Sin will center on the young vigilante serial killer Dexter Morgan (originally played by Michael C. Hall). It will be set 15 years before the events of the original series.

What happens in Dexter: Original Sin teaser trailer?

The teaser trailer for the 10-episode crime series opens with the titular anti-hero introducing himself as a “serial killer,” whose murderous urges originated from his “history.”

“They say it takes a village to raise a killer,” Gibson’s younger version of Dexter explains as he justifies all his crimes. The teaser trailer also introduces the main cast members featured in the prequel series, including Golden Globe winner Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, Patrick Dempsey as Aaron Spencer, and Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta.

The series will also be graced by special guest star Sarah Michelle Gellar as Tanya Martin, with the original Dexter actor serving as the inner voice of the young Dexter.

You can watch the teaser trailer down below:

“Set in 1991 Miami, Dexter: Original Sin follows Dexter (Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness,” the synopsis reads. “With the guidance of his father, Harry (Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.”

Rounding out the cast are James Martinez as Angel Batista, Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka, and Reno Wilson as Bobby Watt. It is produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios.
