Criminal Minds is a crime drama TV series that follows the lives of a team of elite FBI profilers working in the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit.) Their job is to use their profiling expertise to investigate and solve crimes by different perpetrators. The show also focuses on their personal struggles and the close-knit friendship that has developed over the years.
Criminal Minds has always been a beloved crime show and fans were disappointed when the series ended in February 2020. Due to heavy demand, Paramount+ took over the series from CBS and announced a revival of the series.
As the show is a revival of the original Criminal Minds, it will follow the same episodic structure and continue with the stories of each character. The plot line for the new show might be a bit different as
it is unclear if there will be a time jump and how we will meet the different characters in the show. In the finale of the original, we saw Garcia leaving the BAU team and Reid had a new love interest. It will be fun to see what the characters have been up to since we last saw them.
According to Paramount+ most of the cast will reprise their role except Matthew Gray Gubler who played the role of Special Agent Spencer Reid and Daniel Henney who played the role of Matt Simmons. They were unable to return to the series due to scheduling conflicts but the show runner is adamant that there is room for their return should the opportunity present itself.
It is, however, unlikely that Matthew will make a full return as he wishes to pursue other opportunities. It will still be nice to see him reprise his role even as a guest star.
The series will have 10 episodes and the first two episodes will be released on Thursday November 24th, with the rest of the episodes airing weekly on Thursdays. The mid-season finale is expected to air on December 15th. The show will then go on a Christmas break and return on January 12th.
The first season of Criminal Minds: Evolution will be aired on November 24th on Paramount +. You can also catch the first episode on CBS at 10 pm E.T
The trailer has already been dropped and we can expect an intriguing case as the team deals with what happens to serial killers during a pandemic. This is a question that Rossi will find himself asking as they realize that human predators have evolved. They have formed a network to help them overcome the effects of a pandemic in their twisted world.
