Bruce Dern, Julia Fox, and More Join Road Trip Comedy Northbound

Bruce Dern (The Hateful Eight), Julia Fox (Uncut Gems), and more are set to star in the indie road trip comedy Northbound.

The upcoming indie road trip comedy, directed by William Scoular (Survival Box), also stars Weeds actor Hunter Parrish and Blade Runner star Joanna Cassidy. Rounding out the cast are Graham Greene (Reservation Dogs), Walter Borden (Coroner), Dylan Baker (LaRoy, Texas), and comedian Russell Peters.

Written by Ashlin Halfnight (The New Look), Northbound hails from Gatehouse Productions, Beyond the Frame, and Lumanity.

What is Northbound about?

Per Deadline’s description, Northbound follows Arthur (Dern), an octogenarian rogue who “enlists his grandson Kevin (Parrish) to help him escape a nursing home. What ensues, as Kevin chauffeurs him from Arizona to Canada, goes way off the map. The two pick up a mysterious and dangerous woman (Fox) and as the miles tick by, love begins to bloom, bullets fly, and Arthur tries to convince his grandson to carry on the family whiskey business. As they approach their destination, Arthur reveals he has secrets and sins to atone for on this madcap journey to redemption.”

The film’s producers include Saad Siddiqui and Scoular for Gatehouse Productions; Robert Budreau for Lumanity; and Jason Ross Jallet and Andrew Bronfman for Beyond the Frame. Executive producers include Gatehouse Productions’ Wendy La Brier and Beyond the Frame’s Jonathan Bronfman.

Dern is best known for his roles in Coming Home, Family Plot, Black Sunday, The ‘Burbs, Silent Running, Monster, Nebraska, The King of Marvin Gardens, while Fox made her feature film debut in the 2019 crime thriller Uncut Gems.

Parrish, on the other hand, can be seen in Sleepover, Freedom Writers, 17 Again, It’s Complicated, Still Alice, Good Girls Revolt, and The Other Black Girl. Meanwhile, Cassidy is known for her appearances in features like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, The Grudge 2, and more.
