Blink Twice Reviews Lead to Strong Rotten Tomatoes & Metacritic Scores

Zoe Kravitz’s first venture as a director, Blink Twice is set to hit the theaters on August 23, 2024, and the early reviews for the movie are already in. Featuring Channing Tatum and Naomi Ackie, it is a psychological thriller that has garnered immense attention online. Even though Blink Twice is the first directorial venture for Kravitz, it has earned quite the appreciation in its early reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.

Here’s what the early reviews are stating about the Channing Tatum-starrer.

Blink Twice still has a two-day window before its initial release on August 23. In the meantime, critics are appreciating the movie for its powerful storytelling and direction in the early reviews. Zoe Kravitz, who took the director’s chair for this movie, was also one of the story writers alongside E.T. Feigenbaum.

Wowing critics worldwide, Blink Twice has been able to score 80% from a total of 40 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Furthermore, it attained a Metascore of 79 on Metacritic based on 11 reviews. This marks a stunning debut for Kravitz, as per early reviews.

The movie follows Slater King, who is a billionaire. Crossing paths with the cocktail waitress Frida, he asks her to accompany him on a vacation to his private island. Soon, a series of questionable and bizarre events unfold. All this prompts Frida to try and survive this vacation by uncovering some mysteries.

Maria Lattila from Film Stories rated the movie a 4 out of 5. She wrote, “Just as you’re ready to write the whole film off, Kravitz pulls the rug from underneath you and suddenly, everything that came before makes sense. It’s exciting, it’s fresh and I can’t wait to see what Kravitz does next.”

On the other hand, Mae Abdulbaki, another critic on ScreenRant, gave the movie a score of 90. She wrote, “The psychological thriller is clever, sharp, and intoxicating, even in its eeriest moments. There’s a charm and depravity that are all too real, hanging over every scene as it makes us wait with bated breath for the big reveal that comes in glimpses and acts as stark contrasts to the characters’ initial excitement.”

However, Angelica Jane Bastien from Vulture pointed out the negative aspects of the film in her review. She wrote, “Blink Twice is a frustratingly timid take on the billionaire class, too busy swooning over Tatum’s figure to even realize it’s making that mistake.”

Overall, these are the early reviews of Blink Twice by top critics and not the audience scores. With the movie yet to hit theaters, the audience’s reaction will eventually define how well the story connects with the people.
