Three years after the Emmy-nominated music film Black Is King was released, global superstar Beyoncé has reportedly filmed a Renaissance visual album with music video director Nadia Lee Cohen. According to Above the Live, the Grammy winner is currently trying to shop the visual album movie to studios and streamers. However, one of the outlet’s source claims that some studios and streamers already passed on the project several months ago.

After touring Europe for these past months, Beyoncé is currently in the North American leg of her ninth concert tour, Renaissance World Tour. In addition to doing songs from her latest Renaissance album, the concert also features the iconic singer performing some of her biggest hits including “Formation,” “Diva,” and “Love on Top.”

Black Is King Received Positive Reviews

Co-directed and written by Beyoncé, Black Is King was based on the music of The Lion King: The Gift album which the singer-songwriter curated and produced. The visual album reimagined the lessons of The Lion King for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns. The film was shot for one year with a cast and crew that represent diversity and connectivity.

Following its Disney+ debut, the music film received critical acclaim with critics praising its cinematography, themes, and score. It also won two Grammy awards for Best Music Video and Best R&B Performance, which led Beyoncé to becoming the most-awarded artist in the history of the Grammys.
