Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are teaming up once again, this time for a new crime thriller. The two made a name for themselves by writing and starring in the Oscar-winning movie Good Will Hunting and they recently appeared together again in the 2023 film Air. Now, they’re looking to appear in front of the camera together again in a film by director Joe Carnahan.
Ben Affleck is reportedly teaming up with Matt Damon for an upcoming project titled RIP. Joe Carnahan will be in the director’s chair and penning the script for the film.
Per Deadline, plans are for RIP to be shot this fall with Affleck and Damon’s production company, Artists Equity, producing it. Without further comment yet, RIP has been described simply as a crime thriller, for now.
No plot details have been revealed yet and the film hasn’t found a distributor. But there is plenty of interest from multiple movie studios and streamers. So it could be nabbed very soon despite the deal coming together recently.
Joe Carnahan is reuniting with Affleck after working with him on the crime thriller Smokin’ Aces. The director first gained notoriety for directing the acclaimed cop thriller Narc and will be returning to the crime thriller genre with RIP.
Matt Damon is set to star in Doug Liman’s The Instigators this Summer with Casey Affleck. Meanwhile, big brother Ben Affleck is tied with several upcoming projects including The Accountant 2. He and Damon were attached to another crime thriller named Animals under their Artists Equity production banner earlier this year. However, the project was put on hold due to scheduling conflicts with The Accountant 2.
Now that Affleck is done with The Accountant sequel’s production, he and Damon will likely move on to RIP first, before returning to Animals. A release window and other cast details for RIP are yet to be revealed.
