A week before its upcoming Disney+ debut, the directing lineup for Lucasfilm’s highly-anticipated Ahsoka series has been revealed. It confirms that series creator Dave Filoni will direct two episodes. The newest Star Wars drama will start streaming on August 23 with the first two episodes.

Through a newly-released production brief (via starwarsnewsnet.com), it has been revealed that Filoni directed Episodes 1 and 5 of the upcoming Rosario Dawson-led series. Aside from Filoni, the directing lineup also includes Oscar nominee Steph Green (Watchmen) for Episodes 2 & 3, Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) for Episode 4, Jennifer Getzinger (Mad Men) for Episode 6, Geeta Vasant Patel (House of the Dragon) for Episode 7, and Rick Famuyiwa (The Mandalorian) for Episode 8.

What to Expect in Ahsoka?

Ahsoka is written and executive produced by Dave Filoni, best known for his work on fan-favorite Star Wars animated shows The Clone Wars and Rebels. Set within the same timeline as The Mandalorian, the series revolves around the titular Jedi quest across the galaxy as she investigates an emerging threat following the fall of the Empire.

The series is being led by Rosario Dawson, who first portrayed the former Jedi Knight in The Mandalorian Season 2. Joining her are Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eman Esfandi, and Lars Mikkelsen, who are portraying the respective roles of Rebels characters Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, and Grand Admiral Thrawn. Mikkelsen also served as the original voice of the villain in the animated series.

Ahsoka will also introduce franchise newcomers Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, and Wes Chatham as Captain Enoch. In addition, Temuera Morrison has reportedly joined the series to portray the live-action version of Captain Rex.
