David Leitch and his producing partner Kelly McCormick have teamed up with Universal Pictures Content Group for Action, a new docuseries about Hollywood stunt performers.
According to Variety, the series will follow the stunt teams at 87North, the production and action design company cofounded by Leitch and McCormick. The six-part series chronicles the lives of these stunt performers on some of the biggest action movie sets, including Leitch’s upcoming film The Fall Guy. Action will also pull back the curtain for these stunt performers and explore family life off the set.
The series is expected to feature behind-the-scenes interviews with Ryan Gosling, the star of The Fall Guy, and Keanu Reeves, who worked with Leitch on John Wick.
Action will be produced through 87North, with Leitch and McCormick serving as executive producers. The duo will work with producers Josh Oreck (John Wick) and Chelsea Allen (Prop Culture) and director Bridger Nielson (The Prodigy). Handling international sales will be NBCUniversal Global Distribution. The series is currently in post-production.
“My first loves are action films, and the backbone of this genre are the stunt performers who bring their kinetic magic to the screen,” Leitch said in a statement. “Kelly and I are excited to finally shine the spotlight on these unsung, unseen heroes of Hollywood and celebrate the stunt community with Action.”
87North has a first-look deal with Universal, who will produce The Fall Guy, set for release on March 1, 2024.
