The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has warned against the use of fireworks during Christmas and New Year Celebrations.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Jigawa State spokesman, CSC Adamu Shehu and made available to DAILY POST.
He advised the people of the State to be extra careful and security conscious during the celebration.
“Festive periods have their unique security challenges, including thefts, burglaries, larceny, thuggery, public nuisance, use of illicit drugs, fire outbreaks triggered by harmattan wind, fireworks and use of knockouts,” he stated.
He explained that in an effort to record peaceful Christmas and New Year Celebrations in Jigawa State, the State Commandant Mustapha Talba (CC), has also ordered the immediate deployment of 750 personnel to ensure a hitch free celebration across the 27 Local Government Areas in the State.
He also called on the good people of the State to be more vigilant, law abiding and report any suspicious activity to the nearest formation.
He finally wished the Christian community a happy Christmas and urged them to pray for the State and the nation at large.
