Yuletide: Amotekun deploys operatives for inter-border patrol in Southwest

In a bid to ensure security of lives and property during the yuletide, the Western Nigeria Security Network, WNSN, has depolyed no fewer than 310 Amotekun operatives to man inter-state borders and major routes in Ondo, Osun, Ekiti and Ogun States.

The Commander of Amotekun Corps who is also the Chairman of the security outfit in the Southwest, Adetunji Adeleye, said the move became imperative to enhance inter-border patrol during the festive season.

Flagging off the security exercise at Owena, a boundary community between the Ondo and Osun States along Ilesha-Akure road, Adeleye who was flanked by his Osun State counterpart, Brig. Gen. Basir Adewinbi (Rtd), disclosed that the exercise will involve 24 hours patrol.

Adeleye said: “It will guarantee the safety of vehicles plying the roads especially during this yuletide period when we expect heavy flow of vehicles day and night.

“This is in continuation of our operation ‘clean up’ which has yielded tremendous results in area of curbing criminal activities in the state.

“It is now being extended to Osun, Ekiti, Ogun so that we can be sure that this new year and Christmas festivities will be hitch free.

“Its going to be a routine that will go on throughout this period until the new year. After the new year celebration, we will review the security situation, to will determine if it should be continued.
