Three members of a four-man one chance robbery gang were arrested in Ilorin on Wednesday by the police.
The suspects had robbed a lady of over N30,000 in a taxi cab registered LRN 204 YR on Tuesday.
However, they ran out of luck on Wednesday when the lady identified the same taxi cab on Wednesday and with the assistance of some brave Okada riders chased the hoodlums to the front of the Kwara Hotels in Ilorin.
The gang members escaped in the process but three of them were chased and caught, DAILY POST correspondent who was at scene of the incident reports.
The three apprehended suspects, the victim and the taxi cab used for the alleged robbery operation were moved to the state police command for further action.
The spokesman of the command, Okasanmi Ajayi in a text message to DAILY POST, confirmed the arrest of the suspects described as βone chance criminals operating in a commercial taxi cab.β
Okasanmi, said β today 22/12/2021, at about 3.40 pm, information was received about the presence of a commercial taxi cab with three occupants suspected to be robbers with a lady around Kwara Hotels in Ilorin.
βThe Commissioner of Police, Tuesday Assayomo, immediately dispatched a team of policemen to the scene.
βThe three suspects are Adebayo Akeem, (40), Akintola Abdullahi, (38) and Muyiwa Obaseki, (33) who came to Ilorin from Ibadan in Oyo state to perpetrate their criminal activities but were arrested with their victim identified as Omoedemi Ayoleyi (f).β
Ayoleyi, stated that she had earlier been swindled of the sum of N38,000 and gold earrings valued N50,000.
The spokesman said β the suspects were arrested and their operational vehicle, a Mazda 323 Kwara state taxi coloured saloon car with registration number LNR 204 YK was impounded for the crime.β
He said investigation into the matter had commenced in accordance with the directive of the state police commissioner.
