The legal adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun, Barrister Hashim Abioye, has described the party members who ratified the adoption of Wale Ojo as party chairman in the state as gullible.

Making this description on a current affairs radio programme monitored in Osogbo on Monday, Abioye maintained that there was no provision in the party constitution to back their ratification.

Abioye also alleged that the renewed crisis in the Osun PDP was the handiwork of Olasoji Adagunodo, the former embattled chairman of the party in the state, and the current National Vice Chairman, South West of the party.

The Osun PDP legal adviser maintained that it was the state executive committee that had the vested and constitutional power to appoint the chairman of the party or any other officer in the case of a vacancy and not any other stakeholder.

The party chieftain added that Wale Ojo being a Vice-Chairman of the party was not qualified to be acting chairman as there was a deputy state chairman who was his superior and was supposed to act in that capacity.

He also revealed that Sunday Bisi being Chairman of Osun PDP still remained in office since he was appointed by the state executive committee which is duly recognised by the national executive committee of the party.

The Osun PDP legal adviser who described the action as illegal and unconstitutional and a breach of the provisions of the party constitution accused Olasoji Adagunodo of being the brain behind the recent party crisis.

Disagreeing with Abioye, Ade Adewopo another chieftain of Osun PDP stated that the adoption was in order because the members were only applying the court order directing such.

Recall that on Friday, December 24, 2021, Wale Ojo was installed as acting Chairman by stakeholders of the party from all the local government area councils in the state.

Their action was based on the preservative order on November 22, 2021, of an Osun State High Court in Osogbo which allowed for the filling of the vacuum created by the elevation of Adagunodo to the zonal national Vice Chairmanship of the party.

In attendance during the ratification were some gubernatorial aspirants of the party.
