BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Romans 5:1-21, Psalms 73-74

MESSAGE:

Jehovah Nissi is a Hebrew name that refers to God as Banner. When Moses built an altar and named it Jehovah-Nissi (which means ‘the LORD is my banner’), it was in reference to how God had been a pillar unto the children of Israel throughout their wilderness experience, starting from their salvation in Exodus 14:1-31.

When the children of Israel were faced with the Red Sea, Moses held up his hands and told the people to stand still in order to see the salvation of the Lord. Psalms 91:1 says:
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Are you in a desperate situation in your life? Are you struggling and can’t seem to break free from what is holding you back? Run under the Banner today through prayers. Call on Jehovah Nissi now so that He can come through for you like He did for the children of Israel.

KEY POINT:

When God is your banner, you have nothing to fear.

HYMN: O God Our Help In Ages Past

  1. O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
our shelter from the stormy blast,
    and our eternal home;
  2. Under the shadow of Thy throne
    Thy saints have dwelt secure.
    Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
    and our defence is sure.
  3. Before the hills in order stood,
    or earth received her frame,
    from everlasting Thou art God,
    to endless years the same.
  4. A thousand ages in Thy sight
    are like an evening gone,
short as the watch that ends the
    night
    before the rising sun.
  5. Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
    bears all its sons away.
They fly forgotten, as a dream
    dies at the opening day.
  6. O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
be Thou our guard while troubles last,
    and our eternal home.
