MESSAGE:
Years ago, we contracted the digging of our well in my hometown to a Hausa man. Unknown to us, the land sat on a huge rock so the man dug for many days without reaching water, then he returned my money. Thereafter, we got another person who also didnāt hit water but the third person we called hit it within an hour. Apparently, the second person gave up when he almost hit water.
In todayās reading, prophet Elisha instructed the king to shoot his arrows into the open air before making a prophetic declaration. Thereafter, he asked the king to hit the arrows against the floor and he did but stopped at the third strike. This sealed his fate as he did not get total victory over the enemy because he only hit thrice. This is the case with some young people who give up on their dreams or ambitions when faced with challenges or obstacles. They allow the spirit of doubt or public opinion to rob them of their God given vision.
Giving up on your dreams is dangerous because the more you try, the closer you are to achieving your dreams. Be more determined to reach your goals. Let nothing deter you from pursuing your dreams. If you failed before you can still succeed, as long as you try again.
ACTION POINT
Pray more, study more, work harder and persevere until you hit the mark.
HYMN: Iām Pressing On The Upward Way
CHORUS
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith on heavenās table-land;
Where love and joy and light abound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
