A newborn baby boy dumped in a pit toilet by his mother has been found alive in Otuocha, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, three days later.
According to the Anambra Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Affairs, the kid was abandoned in the bathroom after his delivery on August 27, 2023, by his 20-year-old mother, Nwaedoka Chidimma, of Izzi, Ebonyi State.

Chidimma’s acquaintance and farmer, Esther Omesi, claimed the suspect requested a few days at her home due to agricultural work.
Omesi said the suspect began acting strangely on Sunday after the victim told her she was experiencing a stomach ache and went to the pit to relieve herself.
She stated that Chidimma wasted some time, then emerged from the bathroom covered in blood. She claimed that she dialed a nurse, who examined Chidimma and discovered that the infant was missing.
She advised Chidinma to return home to tell her parents that she believed Chidinma had given birth to a stillborn child.

Mrs. Omesi stated that on Tuesday morning, August 29, they heard a baby scream and immediately used a ladder to rescue the infant before alerting the appropriate authorities.
The child was sent to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka for treatment after the incidence came to the attention of the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Hon Ify Obinabo and arrested the culprit.
