Man to die by hanging for killing wife in Jigawa

A Jigawa State High Court sitting in Dutse has sentenced 28-year-old man Shu’aibu Adamu to death by hanging for killing his wife.

The presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Ahmed Muhammad Abubakar said the offence of culpable homicide is punishable under Section 221(b) of the Penal Code.

In his Judgement, Justice Ahmed said the prosecution counsel proved his case beyond reasonable doubt after presenting four witnesses.

The Court found the accused person guilty of the offence, which is punishable with death.

Justice Ahmad sentenced him to death by hanging.

The prosecution counsel had told the court that the incident happened at Warwade town, Dutse Local government Area of Jigawa State on 24/06/2018 when the convict had a misunderstanding with his 20-year-old wife, Sahura Umar of the same town, which caused the convict to use his hoe to hit her on the head, leading to her death.
