The police in Lagos have announced the receipt of intelligence about the July 7 (7/7) celebration.
The command said, “hoodlums and cultists” have perfected plans to mark “what they call 7/7 Neo Black Movement of Africa a. k. a. Black Axe Day”
A statement on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin said the police would not tolerate any breach of security.
“CP Abiodun Alabi in very strong terms warns these groups with the intent to scuttle the peace being enjoyed to shelve their plans”, it reads.
Hundeyin noted that tactical teams, Area Commanders and DPOs, in collaboration with sister agencies, are fully prepared.
The police vowed to clamp down heavily on “organisers, leaders and progenitors of sinister groups whose aim is to cause violence”.
The command warned parents and guardians to warn their children/wards to steer clear of unlawful gatherings before, during and after July 7.
Hoteliers were warned not to release their facilities for cult-related gatherings “as owners of such facilities will be liable to prosecution”
CP Alabi urged all residents to be law-abiding, vigilant and to go about lawful activities without fear.
