Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has set up a nine-man Board of Suleja Area Planning Development Authority as part of efforts to ensure the physical development of the Suleja Emirate.
Inaugurating the Board in Minna, Bello described the board as very important and critical to the development of Suleja Emirate in particular and the state in general.
The Governor revealed that members of the board were carefully selected for the job.
The terms of reference for the board among others include planning, promoting and securing the physical development and environmental improvement of the areas by acquisition, management and disposal of land, other property as well as to carry out building, engineering and other operations to execute works in connection with the performance of all such functions listed therein.
Others are to formulate, monitor, control and coordinate the physical development policy plans and activities within the planning areas and carry out in consultation with other bodies and persons including companies, Suleja Emirate, Government Authorities or Local Government any activity necessary or desirable for the performance of the Boardβs function as well to provide technical advisory or managerial advice or assistance.
Responding on behalf of other members of the board, the Chairman, Mrs Esther Bmitosahi expressed the readiness and commitment of members to discharge their responsibilities.
Mrs. Bmitosahi also explained that communities that fall under the schedule of the Board would be adequately sensitized to avoid the building of structures indiscriminately.
While thanking the Governor for the opportunity to serve, she appealed to him to provide the board with office accommodation and other logistics to enable the board carry out its duties effectively.
Other members of the board include; Engr. Adamu Danladi, Executive Secretary, part-time members are Abdullahi Dahiru Wuse, Aminu Bisallah, Usman Abubakar Danbakaba, Abubakar Mohammed Izom, Dr Abdul Husseni( Perm Sec NIGIS ex-official), Mohammed Baba (GM Urban Development ex-official), as well as Habiba Ahmed ( Niger Institute of Town Planning).
