The Football Association are set to scrap replays in the third and fourth round of this season’s FA Cup competition, according to Sporting Life.
The decision comes after several fixtures in the Premier League and EFL were postponed over the weekend, due to the outbreak of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
It is believed this will ease any upcoming fixture congestion.
Southampton travel to Swansea on January 7, in a third-round clash that, if replays are scrapped, will be settled there and then in Glamorgan.
It is not known yet whether draws in the third and fourth round will result in extra time and penalties or an immediate penalty shootout.
