Germany youth international of Nigerian descent, Nnamdi Collins, has said that he turned down a move to Chelsea because he felt comfortable at Borussia Dortmund.
Collins confirmed that Chelsea were interested in signing him before he extended his contract at Dortmund in 2020.
The 17-year-old joined Dortmund from Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2016.
Collins has represented Germany at the youth international level and he is also eligible to represent Nigeria.
Speaking on how close he was to joining Chelsea, Collins told The Secret Scout: “That is right. They were very interested.
“In any case, it was out of the question for me and Dortmund was always my first option.
“I feel very comfortable here [Dortmund]. For sure, the Premier League is a league where I want to play one day. It is the best league in the world.
“However, I am firmly convinced that it was the right decision to stay here in Dortmund and I’m looking forward to the coming years.”
