EPL: Mark Lawrenson predicts Aston Villa vs Chelsea, Man City vs Leicester, others

Former Liverpool ace, Mark Lawrenson, has predicted some of the English Premier League (EPL) match-day 19 fixtures.

Newcastle United will host Manchester United on Monday night at St. James’ Park.

Chelsea will tackle Aston Villa on Sunday evening in an away Premier League tie.

Manchester City will host Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium on Boxing Day, while Arsenal will face Norwich City.

Providing his predictions, Lawrenson told BBC Sport: “Leicester have done quite well against Manchester City in the past, but not this time. Man City 3, Leicester 0.”

Commenting on the Norwich vs Arsenal game, Lawrenson said, “Arsenal are flying at the moment.

“They [Norwich] pushed Manchester United close at Carrow Road a couple of weeks ago, but I still think a confident, in-form Arsenal will take the points. Norwich 1, Man United 2.”

Speaking on the Aston Villa vs Chelsea fixture, Lawrenson said, “Villa will give it a good go, just as they did when they played Manchester City at Villa Park a few weeks ago, but, as City did, Chelsea should still find a way to win. Aston Villa 0, Chelsea 2.”

On the Newcastle vs Man Utd tie, Lawrenson said, “Manchester United have had a couple of weeks off since their last game because of a Covid-19 outbreak, but their training ground reopened this week and Ralph Rangnick will have been working them hard. They will be going to St James’ Park to win. Newcastle 0, Man United 2.”
