Manchester United have found David De Gea’s replacement in the person of former Arsenal goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez.
Currently at Aston Villa, Martinez is said to be a potential transfer target for Manchester United.
Martinez has started 17 of their opening 18 Premier League fixtures so far this season and was consistent last year.
The Argentina international has also kept five clean sheets so far this season, helping Steven Gerrard’s side to eleventh in the league table.
And United consider him a ‘highly suitable’ candidate to be their future No.1, according to the Daily Star.
De Gea is currently Manchester United’s first choice goalkeeper with his current contract due to expire in 2023.
Manchester United, according to the report, would not, however, make a move for the Argentine goalkeeper who could cost up to £50m, until De Gea leaves Old Trafford.
United’s second choice goalkeeper Dean Henderson is unhappy at Old Trafford with the 24-year-old desperate to leave.
