Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel has expressed happiness that he survived Christmas in his job at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel said this during his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

Recall that the German was sacked on Christmas Eve in 2020 during his time at Paris Saint-Germain.

Tuchel, who took over from Frank Lampard in January this year, was replaced by Mauricio Pochettino, at PSG.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s away Premier League clash with Aston Villa, Tuchel said he would be happy to be involved on Boxing Day for the first time.

He said, “I’m very confident that I survive Christmas in my job this year. We are in a fine place, we are not fully happy with the results we had in the home games.

“I really focus on the home games Burnley, Everton and Man United where it was not necessary. We were more unlucky than anything else, so we are not fully happy with that, but we are confident and we have the right to stay confident.

“We are competitive, we struggle with a lot of injuries in key positions, we struggle with Covid in key positions. The team is a great team, the club is a top club and happy to be part of it.

“We will keep on pushing and I am happy to be involved on Boxing Day for the first time.”

Tuchel’s men are currently in the third position on the Premier League table with 6 points behind leaders Manchester City and 3 points behind second position Liverpool.
