EPL: He’s so committed – Chelsea legend picks Arsenal’s next permanent captain

Chelsea legend, Chris Sutton, has backed Kieran Tierney to become Arsenal’s next permanent captain.

Arsenal are currently in search of a new captain after they stripped Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from the role a few weeks ago following a ‘disciplinary breach.’

Aubameyang has since been exiled from Arsenal’s first-team and is reportedly willing to leave Emirates in the January transfer window.

There are several candidates to replace Aubameyang as captain, with the likes of Tierney, Alexandre Lacazette, Gabriel Magalhaes and Martin Odegaard, among the names being considered.

But Sutton believes Arsenal should make Tierney their new captain because he is so committed.

“I have always followed him closely because of his time up at Celtic, getting into the team at a young age,” Sutton told Radio 5 Live.

“The thing I like about Tierney, I don’t think he’s the finished article yet, but he is so, so committed in every game.

‘That is why a lot of Arsenal fans would give him the captaincy. Robbie [Savage] said the same this evening.

“That is because of that. It is fair to say that Arsenal have lacked leaders over the years and that’s one of the issues Mikel Arteta has had to deal with.”
