Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota, has backed the Reds to defeat Chelsea when both teams clash in Sunday’s Premier League tie.
Jota said Liverpool needs to be at their best in order to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, adding that Jurgen Klopp’s men want to start the New Year well and the only way is to beat the Blues in front of their home supporters.
Liverpool head to the game following a 1-0 defeat to Leicester City in their last match, while Chelsea played a 1-1 draw with Brighton.
Both teams need the three points in a bid to close the gap on leaders Manchester City.
Speaking ahead of the game, Jota was asked whether he thought Klopp’s side would be able to beat Chelsea and he told Liverpool’s official website: “We know it is Chelsea away. We drew with them at home, we know it is not going to be easy. We both want to close that gap but we know at least one of us is going to be even further back.
“We need to be at our best—I know if we do that we are able to win the game there. We want to start the year well and the only way is to win the game at Stamford Bridge.”
