Belgium manager, Roberto Martinez has told aggrieved Manchester United’s second-choice goalkeeper, Dean Henderson to take a decision about his future ahead of the January transfer window.

Henderson was all but set to replace David de Gea as Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper when he returned to the club from a two-year loan spell at Sheffield United in 2020.

Former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, however, continued with the trusted De Gea as his first choice while new interim boss Ralf Rangnick has also stuck with the 31-year-old.

Reports coming from England suggest that Henderson is no longer happy at Old Trafford and wants out of the club.

And Martinez pointed out that he understands Henderson frustration with his lack of playing time at Old Trafford.

“It’s very difficult when you taste first-team football and play week-in, week-out and then become a No.2,’ he said.

“When you see De Gea reach this level, it can be very frustrating. I think it’s a very personal decision.

“There’s no right or wrong. Being a No.2 can give you fantastic moments, winning titles, preparing you for the future.

“But it depends on what you’re prepared to do. Dean needs to make a decision on what he wants to do and master it.”
