Arsenal striker, Eddie Nketiah has rejected a new contract offer and has decided to leave the club.
The player could leave Arsenal in the January transfer window after rejecting the Gunners’ latest contract offer.
Nketiah netted a hat-trick against Sunderland in a 5-1 EFL Cup win on Tuesday, taking his tally in the competition to five for the season.
But the striker played his last Premier League game for Arsenal back in April 2021 and though Mikel Arteta wants the player to stay, the manager is unwilling to give him assurances over playing time.
Metro reports that the young attacker has rejected the club’s offer to keep him at the Emirates and he can sign a pre-contract with foreign clubs from January 1st.
Arsenal could also reluctantly cash in on Nketiah in January with clubs in Germany such as Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke said to be interested in the England U-21 ace.
Asked about his future after the win against Sunderland on Tuesday, Nketiah suggested he was unhappy with his playing time.
“I’m just eager to play football,” said Nketiah.
“I’m under contract and as long as I play for Arsenal, I will give my all.”
