The alleged endorsement of the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Biodun Oyebanji, by Governor Kayode Fayemi has generated a reaction from one of the leading aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the next governorship election in Ekiti State, Engr. Kayode Ojo.
The aspirant stated that though the governor has the right to make his preferred choice, it does not debar others’ aspirations, noting that he is in the race to provide an alternative platform.
He said; “I am least bothered by the governor endorsing a candidate, I would even say it falls within the right of the governor to do so in as much as individuals have the fundamental human rights and freedom of association and free choice. What is paramount to me is that I’m representing an alternative platform through which my aspiration can be realized.”
Kayode Ojo spoke yesterday in Ado Ekiti when his campaign train visited all the APC executive councils in the town.
The aspirant, in his address, urged the party faithful to liberate themselves from what he called, “Government of the few by the people for the few’’ saying that the era of politics of exclusion is gone and that Ekiti people should be looking ahead for an inclusive government where the right dividends of democracy would reach the grassroots.
The occasion witnessed the official endorsement of Kayode Ojo by a grassroots politician, Otunba Tajudeen Gidado, with hundreds of supporters who pledged their loyalty to the success of the APC aspirant during the January 22 primary election.
