Memphis Depay has ruled out an exit from Barcelona this summer, despite the arrivals of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.

The Dutch star was the Spanish giant’s standout signing last summer, and enjoyed a fruitful first season. Finishing as the club’s joint-top scorer with 13 goals.

However, after the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January and Barca’s investment over the summer in attackers Lewandowski and Raphina, it would appear there maybe no room for Depay in Barca’s team.

However, any plans for Barcelona to make some money on a sale of Depay could be scrapped with the 26-year-old content on staying and fighting for his place.

According to Sport in Spain, the forward has told his team-mates he has no plans to leave and stated that ‘even if six forwards come, I will continue.’

Depay’s stance could prevent somewhat of a problem for Barcelona. As well as hoping recoup some cash for the Dutchman, and help with their ability to keep within the La Liga salary limit, the club were also hoping to shrink their squad, too.

They currently have a squad of 32 players, which means seven of those won’t be able to register with Xavi’s side for the new season. Leaving the Spanish boss with an overgrown haul of players.

Depay’s insistence on staying with club comes alongside the on-going saga with Frenkie de Jong, who’s another Barca star who wants to remain at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona had previously agreed a fee with Manchester United, but Depay’s Dutch team-mate is keen to stay, even though the club still own De Jog £17million in deferred wages.
