As Christians worldwide celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has urged the Christian community in the state to use this yearβs Christmas celebration to reflect seriously on their routine spiritual deeds in the last one year and pray to God for a better and prosperous Nigeria.
The governor stated this in his goodwill message to Christians in the state on the occasion of the 2021 Christmas.
While joining millions of Nigerians in congratulating Christians, Governor Mohammed tasked them to extend hands of fellowship to the adherents of other religions and to equally reflect on the life and times of Jesus Christ who used his lifetime to preach peace, honesty, love and tolerance for the maintenance of peace and security of mankind.
The governor said these were indeed virtues that people were expected to emulate, irrespective of their religious beliefs.
He added that the Christmas period should be an opportunity for Christians to cultivate the habit of love, respect and harmonious relationship with other members of the society.
He reiterated the need for mutual understanding and respect for one another as well as peaceful coexistence among other various groups.
βI want to use this auspicious occasion to, on behalf of myself and the entire people of Bauchi State, extend my warm and sincere gratitude and goodwill to Christian brothers and sisters,β he stated.
While assuring that his administration in collaboration with security agencies is committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property of all people residing in the state, the governor declared that the primary objective of any responsible government was to ensure the security of lives and property of its citizens.
βThe provision of infrastructural facilities across the state is aimed at stabilising and strengthening the economic status of the state to become one of the states that have a strong economic base in the country,β he stated.
