The Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has urged Christians to use the occasion of commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ for sober reflection and offer prayers to God to bring an end to the various challenges bedevilling the state and the Nation at large.
In a Christmas message jointly signed by the Council Chairman, Hajiya Asma’u Yawo Halilu and the Secretary, Gambo Santos Sanga, the council prayed for peaceful Christmas celebrations and a prosperous new year.
According to the Council, “As Christians in Nigeria join their counterparts across the globe in commemorating this year’s Christmas, the Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has urged them to use the occasion for sober reflection and offer prayers to God to bring to an end various challenges bedevilling the State and the Nation at large.”
The council noted that the significance of Christmas cannot be overemphasized, stressing that there is the need for peaceful coexistence with other faithful for societal growth and development.
The Council also implored journalists working in the state to exhibit high moral standards in their conduct and objective in their reportage to ensure a peaceful society.
It hailed the efforts of the state government for being proactive, particularly in its quest to rid the state of armed banditry and kidnapping, pointing out that the renewed approach by the government is yielding positive results.
