A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential hopeful and ex-Nigerian Envoy to Algeria and Philippines, Dr. Nnamdi Onochie, has tasked the Nigerian leaders and citizens on the unity of the country.

This is even as Onochie called on all citizens to use this period of Christmas to abandon callousness, wickedness, corruption, cronyism and other vices that will further bring down the nation.

Amb Onochie who recently declared to run for the Office of the President of Nigeria in 2023 made the call in a message signed and forwarded to DAILY POST on Friday night, to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 25.

The presidential hopeful also urged all and sundry to use the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ in realizing that good of one is the good of the other, adding that leaders and the citizens must come together and jointly redeem Nigeria, especially in this her time of very special need.

Onochie further tasked the federal, state and local governments to see the humanity in the populace and abandon all plans, especially in 2022-2023, that will โ€œworsen our lot or increase suffering.โ€

He stated partly, โ€œIt is that time of the year when despite all the problems and suffering in our land, everyone is happy, ready to forgive, forget and move on.

โ€œIt is holidays, and the air is ripe with happiness and joy for everyone, simply for being alive. It is joy to the world because for all christians, it is the symbol that Christ was born to redeem mankind. In spite of all the problems of their people, their wish is to move in and look forward to special blessings that the future will bring.

โ€œIt is indeed more so, for all Nigerians because the diversity we share is more than religion, culture or ethnicity. Our first bond is Nigeria, and the next glue is our history, before our culture and ethnicity.

โ€œLet the gift of Government go beyond wishing us a Merry Christmas, to include goodies and merriments that will put smiles on our faces, way into the New Year, so that those who are led will recognize all the good things that come from properly thought out governance policies/magnanimity, by the Government, for all the people and always by those charged with our national leadership.โ€
