Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, has identified goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, as the player that helped his side defeat Brentford 2-0 in the Carabao Cup quarter-final tie on Wednesday night.

Tuchel said Kepa was a big factor for Chelsea, particularly in the first half of the encounter against Brentford, adding that he was surprised by his display.

Kepa made wonderful saves during the encounter as Chelsea defeated Brentford, thanks to an own goal from Pontus Jansson and a penalty from Jorginho.

Chelsea will now face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

“I am super impressed and very happy with Kepa,” Tuchel said at his post-match press conference.

“It’s not a surprise anymore because he is in that state of mind as a person and a character and sportsman where he delivers because he does what he does best and this is what he shows every single day in training and this is why he gets the rewards.

“I am pretty sure this is the reason why he has these kinds of performances. Super happy. We need him in this shape.

“The goalkeeper is a strong group and Kepa is a very big part of that and it was a big factor in the first half especially.”
