Ohanaeze Ndigbo has denied and disowned rumours making the rounds on social media that the Chairman of Southeast Governors Forum, Dave Umahi recruited the office of the Secretary-General of the apex Igbo group for his 2023 Presidential bid.
“We refused to join issues with faceless organizations not registered in Corporate Affairs Commission CAC, but based on the issue of clarification for the public, the chairman of Southeast Governors and Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi has never met with the Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro in person, or donated any property or whooping sum of money to him, this is the efforts of Igbo saboteurs and fifth columnists from the pit of hell”, a statement signed by Kalu-Odidika Kalu, Media Adviser to the Secretary-General Ohanaeze said.
The statement went on to say that the group cannot be bought by anyone including the southeast Governors.
Ohaneze said it was very much aware that as 2023 draws near, Northern and Southwest presidential aspirants have mobilized mushroom and nonexistent groups to destabilize the Southeast.
The group said all that matters to it is for an Igbo son or daughter to become Nigeria’s President come 2023, adding that no conspiracy theories can destabilize the leadership of Ohanaeze.
The apex Igbo socio-political organisation vowed to ensure Igbo’s field worthy Presidential candidates in the two major political parties for the 2023 Presidential elections.
“We warn that any individual or group of persons who spread fake news against officers of Ohanaeze without any substantial evidence to support it will be prosecuted for libel and defamation of character in the court of competent jurisdiction.”
