Nigeria ended 2021 as the 36th best team in the world according to December’s ranking published by FIFA on Thursday.
This means the Super Eagles finished among the top five African countries.
The three-time African champions are only behind Senegal (20th), Morocco (28th), Algeria (29th) and Tunisia (30th).
This guarantees Nigeria’s spot as one of the seeded teams for the 2022 World Cup playoff draws.
Only the top five ranked teams are guaranteed a seeded place in Africa’s World Cup playoffs draw, which is scheduled for January 26.
The first leg fixtures will take place at the lower-ranked team’s home.
