Atiku’s Lawyer, Prof Dankofa, Buried In Kaduna (Photo)

A well-known lawyer who served as the legal representative for Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 Presidential election, has been laid to rest.

Prof Yusuf Dankofa who died in the early hours of Tuesday was buried in Kaduna in accordance with the Islamic rites.

Dankofa was a lecturer in the faculty of law, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU).

He joined the services as an assistant lecturer in 1989 and rose to the position of senior lecturer in 2010.

He was head of the department of public law at ABU in 2010 and promoted to the rank of associate professor of law in 2013. He became a full professor of law in 2015

In a statement, the Kaduna State Law Students’ Association commiserated with the family and entire law students of ABU.

“Indeed faculty of law lost an icon whose dedication and dutiful conscience has enlighten the faculty; and the students lost a mentor and father whose unrelenting stimulation to students made him distinguishable; and Nigeria lost a leader, social justice activitist and common man’s right defender whose dexterity to social justice was second to known.

“Dankofa was a man of principle, with accorded respect among his peers, he was known for his dedication and impeccable personality. He left but his name has been engraved and shall forever remain in our hearts.” The statement stated.

Daily Trust correspondent gathered that lectures were halted at the Faculty of Law of ABU to mourn the professor.

Dankofa who was born in Ibadan in 1963 hailed from Kano state.

He has to his credit over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals and participation in numerous local and international conferences, where he presented papers on various legal areas.
