Job Title: RTG Maintenance Engineer
Location: Tincan Island Port, Apapa, Lagos
Role Summary
- To determine optimal ways of dealing with challenges, achieve a quality and cost-effective solution, as well as minimal downtime and maximum operational availability of container handling equipment in accordance with the requirements of the Code of Practice and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Operational Responsibilities
- Ensures that the maintenance, breakdown services and/or electrical/electronic repairs of container handling cranes are maintained in a cost-effective manner, with consideration given to quality work and longevity of equipment.
- Reads job order and plans work procedures.
- Submits routine and critical inspection and monitoring reports, ensuring log book is accurate and up-to-date.
- Ensure tidiness and cleanliness of workshop facilities and all equipment.
- Provides complete and accurate written reports on equipment.
- Reads spare parts manuals, determine & select spare parts and support procurement as required.
- Reads electrical schematic diagrams, service manuals, analyzes & investigates electrical faults.
- Provides training and instruction to the less experienced workers.
- Informs supervisor of any workmanship issues, requests checking of work when appropriate, and seeks approval of completed work.
- Carries out electrical/electronic maintenance and repair service for all crane equipment. Disassembles/replaces units and inspects equipment.
- To evaluate and analyse the nature, cause and perform the repairs of breakdowns.
- Provides maintenance and repair services for container handling gantry cranes (RTG).
- Ensures that emergency work is followed up by reporting to the Asst. Technical Manager in charge of RTG Maintenance.
- Carries out electrical/electronic maintenance repairs, fault finding and monitoring of equipment.
- Determine cause of failure of electrical/electronic components of crane equipment.
Job Specifications
- Educational Qualification: B.Sc / B.Ed / B.Tech.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience
Technical Competencies:
- Must be able to read and understand hydraulic and electrical diagrams, troubleshoot / diagnose / identify electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic problems, and provide direction and supervision for solutions.
- Knowledge and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics, service & parts manuals for various equipment.
- Ability to be responsive to emergency repairs with quality workmanship and service.
- Excellent Management and Coordinating skills
- Knowledge of wide range of mechanical and electrical equipment, industrial control systems, variable drive systems, hydraulic, pneumatic systems and their controls.
