Rapper Example has split from his model wife, Erin McNaught after 11 years and two children together.
The English musician, whose real name is Elliot John Gleave, took to Instagram to make the announcement.
The 40-year-old shared a photo of himself and Erin smiling together, and told his social media fans that they split up “half a year ago”.
He wrote: “At the start of the summer we decided to separate. We had an amazing 11 years together, but a few too many adventures.
“Obviously we spent a lot of time behind the scenes trying to figure things out, but we came to the realisation that perhaps our time as a couple had just come to a natural end.
“We have decided to go our separate ways whilst there is still an abundance of love and respect for one another.”
Addressing their two children together, he continued: “We have been Co-parenting happily and effectively now for almost half a year and our boys are surrounded with love.
“Erin and the boys flew to London for 4 weeks so Elliot wouldnât have to go months without seeing Evander and Ennio. We had an amazing family holiday, and look forward to more in the future.”
The couple went on to explain they have the full support of their “closest friends and family” and would “appreciate space” from fans.
“If you see us out and about together itâs still the same old Elliot & Erin,” the post went on. “Though we spend a lot of our time apart we still enjoy time together.
“This is as amicable as it gets. Nobody is blaming anyone in all this. We are very happy that this is the right decision and hope that others can respect this too.”
It comes after Example praised Erin, revealing she saved him from an “early grave” after hardcore partying.
In one of his newer tracks, Eye To Eye, he praised the mother of his two children, as his “saviour”.
He said Erin, 40, put him on the straight and narrow after he admitted doing “every drug under the sun” and “getting absolutely battered every night” when he first started out in the music scene.
Example told The Sun: “Eye To Eye is really about loads of back-stabbers and how people use you for money and fame.
“Erin saved me from an early death. I was partying too much.
“Youâre burning the candle at both ends, doing 120 festivals a year, 100 flights a year and youâre partying four or five nights a week.
“I was lying to my ex and cheating on her. I wasnât close to my mum or dad or my sister any more, so Erin coming into my life helped me mend all those things.”
