TOPIC: Training The Mind [Open Heaven for Teens 21 July 2022]

MEMORISE: Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Philippians 2:5

Also Read: Open Heaven 21 July 2022 – The Originator Of All Things

READ: Romans 12:1-2

  1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
  2. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Acts 22:1-30, Psalms 34-35

MESSAGE:

Training the mind involves channelling it back to God, especially through His word which is the final authority. This is very important because when your mind has been trained to know Gods opinion about a matter, you will not be easily moved, instead, you will respond to situations as a conqueror and not a victim.

Relying on God completely after praying on a matter is another way to train your mind. When you rely on His guidance, He will instruct you on what to do in order to change the situation or simply accept it as His will. Either way, you are training yourself to live according to God’s will.

In addition, when the Bible says in Hebrews 10:38 that The just shall live by faith, and faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17 ), it means faith comes by constantly hearing God’s word. Saturate your heart with God’s word so much that it will become difficult to find space for sinful thoughts or actions.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please give me the mind of Christ.

HYMN: I Need Thee Every Hour

  1. I need Thee every hour,
    Most gracious Lord;
    No tender voice like Thine
    Can peace afford.

CHORUS
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Ev’ry hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Saviour,
I come to Thee.

  1. I need Thee every hour,
    Stay Thou nearby;
    Temptations lose their power
    When Thou art nigh.
  2. I need Thee every hour,
    In joy or pain;
    Come quickly and abide,
    Or life is vain.
  3. I need Thee every hour,
    Teach me Thy will;
    And Thy rich promises
    In me fulfil.
  4. I need Thee every hour,
    Most Holy one;
    Oh, make me Thine indeed,
    Thou blessed Son!
