TOPIC: Steal No More

READ: Ephesians 4:28-29 (NKJV)

  1. Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with [his] hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
  2. Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

THE MESSAGE:

Apostle Paul exhorted the Ephesian Christians on the proper conduct expected of them. According to him, a new man has an encounter with Christ and is expected to bear fruits that befit his new life. A strong charge highlighted in our text is to STOP STEALING. Stealing simply means to take another person’s property without his permission or legal right and without the intention to return it. It includes stealing of ideas, musical compositions, technological software, publications, skill, sermons or presentations, documents to implicate people, etc., without acknowledgement or reference to the original owner. Today, we see people steal such things from others, institutions, government and even the church. To the world, it is a game or being smart, but to a new man, it is sin.

Have you been involved in any kind of stealing? Then you must repent, steal no more, but work with your hands. God will bless you, so that you can give generously to others. Verse 29 charges us as believers to be mindful of our speech. On this note, no foul/corrupt language or gossip should proceed out of our mouths. We are therefore encouraged to speak that which can build and encourage one another. We must represent our Lord Jesus here on earth and influence the world positively by our conduct.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, please let my light shine to influence the world for You. Amen.
