The Shrinking Season 2 previews the return of Jason Segel and Harrison Ford in the second installment of the comedy, picking up where their characters left off.
The upcoming season consists of 12 episodes. It will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Wednesday, October 16. Shrinking Season 2 will then release one new episode weekly each Wednesday until December 25.
Check out the Shrinking Season 2 trailer below
The trailer begins by introducing some of the central characters in the comedy series, including Segel as Jimmy Laird and Ford as Dr. Paul Rhoades. Both are therapists, though Jimmy tends to take a more overly involved and unorthodox approach with his patients. Shrinking’s Season 1 finale showed the consequences of this approach, as Grace (Heidi Gardner) pushed her abuser off a cliff.
The Shrinking Season 2 trailer follows up on that thread, showing that Grace is struggling behind bars. It also shows that several of the same issues remain, with Jimmy not quite able to move forward after the death of his wife and having difficulty hiding that face from his young daughter. As for Paul, he’s still trying to open himself up emotionally, and the trailer shows the return of two-time Emmy nominee Wendie Malick as a potential love interest.
The trailer also highlights returning cast members such as Emmy Award nominee Christa Miller, Emmy Award nominee Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley. It ends with Jimmy making a joke about how much Paul sounds and talks like Batman, which is amusingly played off by Segel and Ford.
Created by Emmy Award winners Bill Lawrence, Segel, and Brett Goldstein, who will guest star in two episodes, Shrinking Season 2 is Apple TV+ by Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence and Goldstein are under overall deals, and Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Randall Winston, Annie Mebane, Rachna Fruchbom, and Brian Gallivan all serve as executive producers.
It’s also worth noting that Shrinking is the third collaboration between Lawrence, Warner Bros. TV, and Apple TV+. It comes after the massive success of Ted Lasso and the Vince Vaughn comedy Bad Monkey, which has also generated buzz.
