Ace Publisher and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has stated that there is nothing more risky than faceless people or a mob leading a protest.

He stated that it is the right of Nigerians to protest but not cause mayhem while at it.

There have been reports of a planned youth-led nationwide protest slated for August 1 to 15Β  over the rising cost of living and economic hardship.

In a post via X on Wednesday, Momodu said that with 46 years of experience in protest since his day at the University of Ife it is risky for faceless people to lead a protest.

The veteran journalist noted that while every citizen is entitled to protest, the government has the right to protect the lives and properties of the people.

He said, β€œI have 46 years experience in protests, since 1978 at the University of Ife. There’s nothing riskier for a nation than faceless people or a mob leading protests. It is the right of everyone to protest but not the right of anyone to cause mayhem… And government has the right to protect lives and properties.”
