After premiering on Netflix this month, Netflix has officially set the Godzilla Minus One Minus Color release date, announcing that the special black-and-white version will arrive soon.
The Godzilla Minus One Minus Color Netflix release date has been set for August 1, 2024. Despite being billed as a black-and-white version of the movie, Minus Color is actually much more intricate than that. To accomplish the look, the team at Toho actually did a cut-by-by adjustment of the film in an effort to match the style to that of the original Godzilla films.
“Post war Japan is at its lowest point when a new crisis emerges in the form of a giant monster, baptized in the horrific power of the atomic bomb,” reads the official synopsis of the original film.
The movie stars Ryunosuke Kamiki as KĹŤichi Shikishima, Minami Hamabe as Noriko ĹŚishi, Yuki Yamada as ShirĹŤ Mizushima, Munetaka Aoki as SĹŤsaku Tachibana, Hidetaka Yoshioka as Kenji Noda, and Sakura Ando as Sumiko ĹŚta.
The screenplay was written by Yamazaki, who previously made 2005’s Always: Sunset on Third Street, 2010’s Space Battleship Yamato, 2013’s The Eternal Zero, 2014’s Stand by Me Doraemon, 2019’s Dragon Quest: Your Story, and 2019’s Lupin III: The First, among other movies, prior to Godzilla Minus One. The film was produced by Minami Ichikawa, Shūji Abe, Kenji Yamada, Kazuaki Kishida, Gō Abe, and Keiichirō Moriya.
Godzilla Minus One is also currently streaming on Netflix.
